About University of Uoulu, Centre for Wireless Communications - Networks and Systems
University of Oulu, CWC-Networks and Systems (UOULU) at Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE) was established in 1995 and provides high quality bachelor, master and doctoral level education in wireless communications and RF engineering. UOULU operates in the heart of the strategic focus area of digitalization and smart society and contributes partly to all others, in particular to lifelong health. UOULU is heavily involved in the university profiling area 6G solutions for data driven society and the first and largest national science Flagship program on Sixth Generation (6G) wireless technology, 6G Flagship.
UOULU leads and coordinates activities in ET4D in terms of empowering the consortium with theoretical and practical expertise on radio-frequency (RF) based on wireless communication. UOULU will contribute with ensuring connectivity-efficient deployment of the devices and will carry the analysis of the data collected to determine the state-of-the-art and perspective data traffic patterns and communication requirements of the agri-food devices and systems. These results will be further generalized (i) to develop a practice-inspired traffic models of smart farm; (ii) specify the perspective communication architecture and ecosystem for smart farm usecase, (iii) assess the feasibility of addressing the needs of agri-food application by the existing wireless communication technologies (both cellular andnon-cellular), and (iv) enable application-specific wireless connectivity optimization (e.g., through the proper configuration of mobile radio access network parameters) or, if needed, development of proprietary radio access technologies to be used in agri-food. UOULU will also be involved in dissemination, exploitation and communication, especially focusing on delivering the key results of the project to the information and communications technology community.
